Restrict printing, editing, and copying You can prevent users from printing, editing, or copying content in a PDF. You can set the restrictions you want to apply to the PDF. Users cant change these restrictions unless you provide the password.
You can also lock a PDF from editing to make it read-only using docHub: Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect Restrict Editing. Choose a password and specify the editing permissions that you want to set for users without the password. Click OK and then click Save.
Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.
Consider keeping a backup copy of the PDF that isnt password-protected. Open the PDF in Acrobat, and do one of the following: If you receive a prompt, click Yes to change the security. Select Restrict editing and printing of the document. Type the password in the corresponding field.
On Windows, just right-click your PDF and select Properties Read-only OK. On a Mac computer, the process is a little more complex. Select the PDF and click File Get Info. You can then set access rights under the Sharing Permissions tab.
Click File. Select Info. Select Protect Document. From the dropdown menu, choose Encrypt with Password.
How to convert a PDF to read-only on Mac and Windows. Right-click your PDF. Select Properties. Choose Read-only. Click OK.
Password-protect a PDF in Preview on Mac In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF. Choose File Export. Click the Permissions button, then do any of the following: Enter a password in the Owner Password section, then retype it to verify. Click Apply, then click Save.
