Open the PDF in Acrobat, and do one of the following: Choose Tools Protect More Options Encrypt with Password. Choose File Protect Using Password, and then choose Advanced Password Protection from More Options.
Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.
The Permissions setting controls restrictions that can be placed on the PDF file. To prevent printing of a PDF file, uncheck the Allow the document to be printed option. You must always enter a master password when security options are enabled or when a user password is set.
2 Answers Open your file, and choose File Properties, or CTRL + D on Windows, or COMMAND + D on Mac to open the Document Properties dialog box. Click the Security Method drop-down arrow and choose Password Security to open the Settings dialog box. Click the Restrict editing and printing of the document.

Set a password The simplest technique for securing a PDF file is to protect it with a password. You can then share the password only with people who are authorized to open the document, and anyone who enters the access code will be able to open the file.
Add a password to docHub (pdf) Open the PDF and choose Tools Protect Encrypt Encrypt with Password. If you receive a prompt, click Yes to change the security. Select Require a Password to Open the Document, then type the password in the corresponding field.
