Using a permissions password, you can restrict printing, editing, and copying content in the PDF. Recipients dont need a password to open the document in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. They do need a password to change the restrictions youve set.
Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.
For best security, the 256 bit encryption option is recommended. The Permissions setting controls restrictions that can be placed on the PDF file. To prevent printing of a PDF file, uncheck the Allow the document to be printed option.
However, there may be times when you want to choose a different format, such as PDF. Double-click the desired file to open it. The file will appear in a new tab. Select File Download as, then choose the desired file type.
One of the security options when you secure a PDF is to restrict printing permissions. If these options have been turned on, it will limit anyones ability to print the PDF unless they have the password.
