There are two basic types of educational accreditation, one referred to as institutional and the other referred to as specialized or programmatic. Institutional accreditation applies to an entire institution, indicating that each of an institutions parts is contributing to the achievement of the institutions
How long does the accreditation process take? Generally, it can take about 7-21 days for the entire procedure. A smaller institution may be able to prepare for accreditation in as few as 7-14 days.
The NIACAP is composed of four phases (Figure 1): Definition, Verification, Validation, and Post Accreditation.
