And before we jump into this, as full disclosure, I work at Microsoft as a full-time employee. My HR department requires me to say this because Im going to be talking about a Microsoft product today. Now you might be wondering, well, hey, I could just use the camera app on my phone to take a picture of the document and that works fine. For example, here I am on my iPhone and I have this document and I can go ahead and lets take a quick picture of it. The thing though is its not the best quality for a scan and there are some apps out there that can take much better photos of documents. And today I want to show you one of them called the Office app made by Microsoft. Now this app will work on either an Android phone or an iPhone. Document scanning is the process of capturing paper documents and converting them to a digital format via a document scanner or multi-function printer. Document scanning is also commonly referred to as document conversion or document imaging.
Open Google Drive and tap the + symbol. Under the Create New tab, select Scan. Position the phone camera over the document and tap the Shutter button when youre ready to capture the image. Tap the check mark to keep the scan or the back arrow to retake it.
Use your built-in phone or tablet camera to take a photo of your document. Then, attach the photo to your email. This option turns your mobile device or tablet into a document scanner. Similar to how you take a picture, the app will convert your photo into a PDF or like file type.
To scan a document with your phone: Place the document you want to scan on a flat surface, like a desk or table. Open the scanner app on your phone, then follow the instructions that appear.
You can view and download documents that you scanned using the Notes app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. In Notes on iCloud.com, select a note that contains a scanned document. Do either of the following: View the document: Double-click the thumbnail of the scanned document.
