Bulletin boards serve multiple purposes. They can convey a variety of information from meeting announcements and parent news to curriculum overviews and displays of student work. They can also make learning visible.
There are three main types of bulletin boards that you can set-up in your classroom display, information, or interactive. All of them have the potential to be wall- mounted, as well as, traveling boards or those created on a tri-fold display board.
Terms in this set (4) Simplicity. i.e. Onomatopoeia. Purpose is to teach. Brief Text. Meaningful, short, to-the-point. Attractiveness. Use colors to your advantage. Avoid contrasting/clashing colors. Use at least 3 main colors. Large enough to read. Title should around 3-4 inches. Text below should be 2-3 minimum.
Depending on the size of your bulletin board, I like to keep bulletin board letters to about 3.5-4.5 inches. Letter size paper is 11 inches tall (if you have it in portrait mode), so I like to make my letters about half the size of the paper.
Depending on the size of the heading, you will want to play with the size of the font. I typically use a size 400 font but it all depends on the space and size that I need the letters to be.
