Candidate for Accreditation status indicates the program is making satisfactory progress toward compliance with accreditation criteria, but it does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation. Graduates of these programs are eligible for licensure.
Key steps in the accreditation process Step one: undertaking a self-assessment. Step two: making an initial application. Step three: desk-based document review by the accreditation body. Step four: on-site, pre-assessment meeting. Step five: initial, on-site full assessment. Step six: grant of accreditation (or otherwise)
Initial Accreditation is conferred when a Review Committee determines that a proposal for a new program or sponsoring institution substantially complies with the requirements.
Level 3 accreditation is for 75 contact learning hours and is designated as MCC Accredited Education. Graduates from a Level 3 education and training program may apply for the Master Certified Coach (MCC) Credential using the MCC application path if they meet the credentialing application requirements.
The goal of accreditation is to ensure that institutions of higher education meet acceptable levels of quality. Accreditation in the United States involves non-governmental entities (accrediting organizations) as well as federal and state government agencies (these three entities are formally known as the Triad).
Accreditation by the AVMA Council on Education (COE) represents the highest standard of achievement for veterinary medical education. Institutions that earn AVMA COE accreditation confirm a commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review.
Types of accreditation. There are three main types of accreditation: national, regional, and specialized accreditation that apply to certain academic programs.
An accredited programme receives an accreditation level (Level I, II, III or IV). The higher the accreditation level, the more benefits there are. For example, from accreditation level 1 (Level I) onwards, educational institutions no longer need to apply for an SO number from the CHED for that study programme.
Considered the most prestigious and widely-recognized type of accreditation, regionally-accredited schools are reviewed by their designated regional agency. Nationally-accredited agencies review institutions of a similar type, such as career, vocational, and technical (art design, nursing, etc.) schools.
Initial Accreditation with Warning: If a Sponsoring Institution or program does not demonstrate substantial compliance at the subsequent review, the Review Committee may withdraw accreditation or confer a status of Initial Accreditation with Warning for a period of one year.
