For printed materials, the optimal point size when choosing a font for print is between 10-12 points, however legibility at this size can vary greatly between different typefaces. Always print out your project at 100% size (without scaling) to determine if the font size is legible for your printed project.
Printing: It also calculates the required image size (pixels) to print this image size (inches or mm) on paper at the dpi resolution. 30002400 pixels printed at 300 dpi will print (3000 pixels / 300 dpi)(2400 pixels / 300 dpi) = 10x8 inches on paper.
The ideal font point is 12pt scanned at 300 DPI, approximately 48*48 pixel*pixel. The ideal DPI is 300 DPI for character font size greater than 10.5pt. It is recommended to use higher resolution (400 DPI or 600 DPI) for character font size less than 10.5pt.
Image resolution can be changed by increasing the DPI or changing the format to vector. For increasing the image resolution in matplotlib, we can save the plot in SVG and PDF format.
How to change font size in r? To change the font size of text, use cex (character expansion ratio). The default value is 1. To reduce the text size, use a cex value of less than 1; to increase the text size, use a cex value greater than 1.
A 12-point font is 16 pixels tall. This scaling factor is described as 96 dots per inch (DPI). The term dots derives from printing, where physical dots of ink are put onto paper. For computer displays, it would be more accurate to say 96 pixels per logical inch, but the term DPI has stuck.
The default font size of geomtext() is 3.88. You can change the size using the size argument in geomtext() for a single plot. If you want to use the same updated size, you can set this with updategeomdefaults() , e.g. updategeomdefaults(text, list(size = 6)) .
