hello and welcome to 2 minute design im daig and today were going to talk about image size and resolution [Music] this is a pixel these are 10 pixels and these are 100 pixels so our image is going to be 10 pixels wide by 10 pixels high and these are called pixel dimensions now lets say that this is one inch then here we have 10 pixels per inch this is called resolution or pixel density if you want to create a circle we would change the color of these pixels to have a smoother circle we need a higher resolution lets try 20 pixels per inch now we have a much smoother result but were still working within 1 inch here what if we want to work with 2 inches if we just increase the size of our image its still going to be the same because the resolution is now smaller we now have 5 pixels per inch instead of 10 pixels per inch and the pixel dimensions are still the same 10 pixels by 10 pixels so we just learned something here increasing the image size does not increase its resolution or

The dpi method of figure module of matplotlib library is the resolution in dots per inch. Syntax: fig.dpi. Parameters: This method does not accept any parameters. Returns: This method returns resolution in dots per inch.
If not provided, defaults to rcParams[figure. figsize] = [6.4, 4.8] .
To change the images resolution in matplotlib, we have to change the value of the key savefig. dpi in the matplotlibrc file. The above syntax will change the dpi of the image to 300.
How do you improve Matplotlib image quality? Set the figure size and adjust the padding between and around the subplots. Make a 2D data raster using a np. array. Display data as an image, i.e., on a 2D regular raster. Save the current image using savefig() with dpi=1200 and . To display the figure, use show() method.
Change the default dpi settings in matplotlib. I like 300 (i.e., 300 dpi), but you can adjust to your liking; for reference, I think the default dpi is 78. Note that figure. dpi will increase the pixel for inlined renderings while savefig.
By default, Matplotlib renders images at 100 dpi (dots per inch) where 1 dot is one pixel so the above image is 585 x 413 pixels in size (corresponding to an A6 images dimensions of 5.85 x 4.13 inches) when run in Python.
To change the images resolution in matplotlib, we have to change the value of the key savefig. dpi in the matplotlibrc file. The above syntax will change the dpi of the image to 300.
To save the file in pdf format, use savefig() method where the image name is myImagePDF. pdf, format=pdf. We can set the dpi value to get a high-quality image. Using the saving() method, we can save the image with format=png and dpi=1200.
