Keep the following in mind when including a table in your paper: Place the table number above the table, in bold text and flush with the left margin. Place the title of the table (in title case and italics), double-spaced, under the table number, flush left. Double-space before and after the table.
Set off the word Table or Figure and the number that follows in bold but keep the rest in normal font (neither bold nor italics). No punctuation is required between the number and the title: space alone is enough.
To add a header row to a table Choose Insert Table to insert a table. Choose the number of boxes you want across to create columns, and then choose the number of boxes you want down to create rows for your table. On the Design tab, choose the Table Styles Options group, and then choose Header row.
The tag must be inserted immediately after the tag. Tip: By default, a table caption will be center-aligned above a table. However, the CSS properties text-align and caption-side can be used to align and place the caption.
In written reports, titles are not used on figures or tables; instead, the information is placed in a caption. Captions for tables are placed above the table (typically left aligned), and captions for figures are placed below the figure.
Titles/labels/legends for tables are always placed at the top of the table. A table should be stand-alone and hence, the title and footnotes presented should be self-explanatory. The number of words/information presented in the table depends up on what is being presented in the table.
Captions for tables are placed above the table (typically left aligned), and captions for figures are placed below the figure. NOTE: Titles for figures and graphs can be used for oral presentations and posters.
Tables are read from the top down, so titles go above the body of the table and are left-justified.
