hi im ted today im going to show you how to paste dates into an excel spreadsheet i have a blank spreadsheet here with just a column thats going to be the dates and im going to go into word microsoft word briefly where i have five different dates and first thing im going to do is im just going to copy all the dates select them all go to copy go to my excel spreadsheet and ive got the first cell where i want the dates to appear and i just go to edit and paste and there we go theyre all pasted in now youll notice something funny happened in the original excel im sorry the original word document three of the dates are now in a different format than they originally were the reason for that is excel recognized those dates as spelled out in a standard format and when it came to excel it for it recognized it as a date and it put it into the default date format now we can go in and we can go to the format menu format cells and date and select from among a bunch of different formats
