Open a PDF in Acrobat. Open the Optimize PDF tool from the pane on the right. Click Advanced Optimization in the toolbar at the top and specify your compression needs, then click OK. Select a location to save your file and click Save.
Some documents, such as editable forms, may not be able to use password protection. In these cases, you might bump into an error message telling you that the file could not be saved due to a bad parameter. The trick here is to save a copy of the file and then password protect the copy.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, and do one of the following: Go to All tools Protect a PDF. From the Protect a PDF toolset in the left pane, select Encrypt with password. Select File Protect Using Password.
One-click option to protect a PDF with a password Open the PDF in Acrobat. Do any of the following: Go to All tools Protect a PDF Protect with password. In the Protect Using Password dialog box, select if you want to set the password for viewing or editing the PDF. Type and retype your password. Select Apply.
Within the Save As dialog box that appears, choose Permissions from the right-hand menu. (See image below.) Add a password and set a desired encryption level. Enter a name and select Save to create a new PDF document with the security settings added to it.
#2: Add Password Protection to Multiple PDF Files Manually Begin with opening the PDF file in docHub. Then, click the Tools option and select Protection. Now, press on Encrypt and select Encrypt with a Password. Confirm by Pressing on YES. After that, select the Compatibility drop-down Menu.
Its possible to compress an encrypted or locked PDF even if you dont know the password, however compressing a PDF will not bypass security settings, such as passwords. So youd still need to unlock the PDF normally before being able to open or edit it. Right-click the PDF you want to compress.
How to Set Security on a Batch of PDFs On the toolbar bar go to the Batch Tab Set Security. Set the options for the batch process. Additional details for each of the settings are available below. Once all of the settings are complete, click on Start to begin the batch process.
