#1: Increase Lift As the plane travels, air moves quickly over the top of the wings. This creates lower pressure over the wings, allowing the high pressure under the wings to lift the plane up. Try making wider wings or wings that curve up or down at the ends.
Hypothesis: The lighter paper airplane will fly the greatest distance because lighter material seems to stay in the air longer than heavier material. Procedures: Gather the materials listed above and cut the paper so that they are all the same size.
If the paper plane has enough thrust and the wings are properly designed, the plane will have a nice long flight. But there is more than lack of thrust and poor wing design that gets a paper plane to come back to Earth. As a paper plane moves through the air, the air pushes against the plane, slowing it down.

Stalling. If your plane goes sharply up then stops and drops, try bending the back edges of the wings slightly downwards (both sides). Make the bend close to the body of the plane rather than the tips of the wings its easier to keep the bends on each side more even that way. This is called a down elevator.
Nosediving. If your plane nosedives to the floor, bend the back edges of the wings slightly upwards. Make the bend close to the body of the plane rather than the tips of the wings its easier to keep the bends on each side more even that way. This is called an up elevator.
In every object there is a center of gravity a neutral point where all of the mass is balanced. If an airplane has a center of gravity ahead of the neutral point, then this plane is stable. If this center of gravity is behind the neutral point then it becomes unstable causing nose-dives and spins.

Take the rudder left to force the tail to the right and the nose of the airplane to the left. The rudder on a real airplanes is only needed to correct the yaw during flight, but with a paper airplane we use it to bank. Remember this rule of thumb: Rudder to the left = Tail to the right = Nose to the left= left banking.
Add a piece of tape somewhere in the middle between the wings and bottom of the fuselage. This keeps the paper airplane from falling apart but allows the wings to span open mid-flight!
