Scanning a PDF for viruses in a hurry. In your internet browser, go to the VirusTotal website. Select the tab for FILE, URL, or SEARCH. The SEARCH option lets you type in a URL, IP address, domain, or file hash. Upload a file, copy and paste a URL, or enter your search terms. View results.
Anyone can open and view the file, but they need to know the password to make any further edits to the PDF. With the Encrypt option, you can secure the entire document with either a certificate or password. That means no one without the proper credentials will be able to open the PDF.
Open the PDF and choose Tools Protect Encrypt Encrypt with Password. If you receive a prompt, click Yes to change the security. Select Require a Password to Open the Document, then type the password in the corresponding field.
