Border is created inside the element, where as outline is created outside the element. So border is computed along with the width and height of the element, while outline draws outside the element.
Note: Outline differs from borders! Unlike border, the outline is drawn outside the elements border, and may overlap other content. Also, the outline is NOT a part of the elements dimensions; the elements total width and height is not affected by the width of the outline.
Outlines Vs Borders Outlines do not take up space, because they always placed on top of the box of the element which may cause them to overlap other elements on the page. Unlike borders, outlines wont allow us to set each edge to a different width, or set different colors and styles for each edge.
Outlines dont take the space meaning that using outlines or not doesnt affect the dimension of element. border supports rounded corners with the border-radius property. Meanwhile outline doesnt. We can define the border style for each side via the border-top , border-left , border-bottom and border-right properties.
The outline property in CSS draws a line around the outside of an element. Its similar to border except that: It always goes around all the sides, you cant specify particular sides. Its not a part of the box model, so it wont affect the position of the element or adjacent elements (nice for debugging!)
Why do you need to outline your fonts? Before sending files to print, it is important to convert all fonts to outlines. Outlining fonts in your files will ensure that the fonts appearance is preserved when your files are sent to print as it converts the font into artwork.
INTRODUCTION: An outline is a general plan of what you are going to write in the finished. paper. It will show the order of your information, what each paragraph will discuss, etc. An outline is a hierarchical way to display related items of text to graphically depict their relationships.
Add an outline, shadow, reflection, or glow text effect Select your text or WordArt. Click Home Text Effects. Click the effect you want. For more choices, point to Outline, Shadow, Reflection, or Glow, and then click the effect you want.
