okay lets talk about log scales and how to read them in engineering we typically use a base 10 log scale and what that means is that every major tick mark is equal to 10 to an exponent and that exponent increases as you proceed increasingly along the log scale so simply really to just see it this way look point 1 its 10 to the minus 1 1 is 10 to the 0 10 is 10 to the 1 and 100 is 10 to the 2 so look at the exponent minus 1 0 1 2 etc okay so how do you read the log scale well what youre gonna do is youre gonna read the tick marks right so lets first actually see how we read the tick marks lets just pick this tick mark right here because this is a 1 and this is a 10 this tick marks are spaced by ones so this would be 2 this would be 3 this would be 4 5 6 7 8 9 okay now if we move to the right here Ive seen students for example right here 16 or sorry 11 12 13 14 no thats not right here we have to go by tens right so this is 20 30 40 etc okay this one over here is 90 I hope that y

Right-click anywhere on the chart and select Chart Properties. If you do not see the Chart Properties, point to Chart on the shortcut menu and select Chart Properties. Select Border, and click the type of border to apply to the chart.
Change the format of a selected chart element Click anywhere in the chart. This displays the Chart Tools, adding the Design, Layout, and Format tabs. On the Format tab, in the Current Selection group, click the arrow next to the Chart Elements box, and then select the chart element that you want to format.
Heres how: Select a cell or a range of cells to which you want to add borders. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click the down arrow next to the Borders button, and you will see a list of the most popular border types. Click the border you want to apply, and it will be immediately added to the selected cells.
An easy method to change the width of the chart lines is to select the line/lines, right click, and at menu choose Format Data Series, and, then choose Line Style, to change width selection.
Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the arrow next to Shape Outline. If you do not see the Drawing Tools or Format tabs, double click the line to make sure that you selected it. Point to Dashes, and then click the line style that you want.
Choose the cell or range of cells to which boundaries should be added. When you click the down arrow next to the Borders button in the Font group on the Home page, a list of the most common border types will appear. The desired border will be added immediately to the chosen cells when you click it.
Click a chart. On the Format tab, in the chart elements dropdown, select the chart element that you want to use. On the Format tab, click (Shape Outline icon).
To create a log-log chart in Excel: Select the data that you want to plot. Click the Insert tab, and then click Scatter. Click Scatter with only Markers. Click OK. Right-click the x-axis, and then click Format Axis. Under Axis Type, click Logarithmic scale. Click OK. Right-click the y-axis, and then click Format Axis.
