cpp file. We #include the header file so that the compiler pulls in the declaration.
Header files should never contain object definitions, only type definitions and object declarations.
Header file order matters because macro definitions defined in one header file might affect a subsequent header file. Macro definitions in one header unit cant affect another header unit.
Why Do You Use Header Files? Header files are used in C++ so that you dont have to write the code for every single thing. It helps to reduce the complexity and number of lines of code. It also gives you the benefit of reusing the functions that are declared in header files to different .
Including a header file should be idempotent (including it several times should have the same effect as including it once). A header file should have a coherent purpose (and not have unnecessary or surprising effects). A header file should have low coupling (and not introduce excessive dependencies on other headers).
Its common to see the header files in the same directory as the source that needs it. But if you have a header file thats used in different source files in different directories it makes sense to put the header files in a common directory.
Yes, you can use #include This header file includes all the standard header files.
In C language, header files contain the set of predefined standard library functions. You request to use a header file in your program by including it with the C preprocessing directive #include. All the header file have a .h an extension.A header file contains: Function definitions. Data type definitions. Macros.
You can find this option under Project Properties-Configuration Properties-C/C++-General-Additional Include Directories. and having it find it even in lib\headers. You can give the absolute or relative path to the header file in the #include statement.
Header File Inclusion Rules A header file should be included only when a forward declaration would not do the job. The header file should be so designed that the order of header file inclusion is not important.
