So, to make your lifeand the lives of everyone with whom you share filesa little easier, use this date format, which is guaranteed to sort correctly everywhere: YYYY-MM-DD.
Sort dates or times Select a cell in the column you want to sort. On the Data tab, in the Sort Filter group, do one of the following: To sort from an earlier to a later date or time, click. (Sort Oldest to Newest). To sort from a later to an earlier date or time, click. (Sort Newest to Oldest).
For dates, use YYYY-MM-DD (or YYYYMMDD, or YYMMDD, or YYMM). To ensure that files are sorted in proper chronological order, the most docHub date and time components should appear first followed by the least docHub components.
Drag down the column to select the dates you want to sort. Click Home tab arrow under Sort Filter, and then click Sort Oldest to Newest, or Sort Newest to Oldest.
You should use DESC for order . Try this: $thequery = new WPQuery( array( posttype = $posttype, numberposts = 2, orderby = modified, order = DESC, )); Using DESC will give you the latest post first(descending order).
Chronologically sounds more technical, but by date is a bit clearer, I think. Are there circumstances which would influence your use of one over the other?
Using an Excel Formula to Sort by Month and Day In the empty cell (C2), next to the first date, type =TEXT(B2,MMDD), where B2 refers to the first date. This will return a list of dates, without the year, formatted as MMDD.
