How to Change Slide Orientation in PowerPoint Well run through various options for choosing a different orientation for PowerPoint. Go to the Design tab and select Slide Size. Now select Custom Slide Size. Choose Portrait under Orientation Slides. Confirm your selection with OK.
Click Portrait. On the Design tab, click Slide Size. Click Page Setup. In the Page Setup dialog box, under Orientation, click the orientation that you want: Portrait: Landscape: There are separate orientation settings for Slides (projected on-screen) and for Printed notes, handouts, and outlines.
To permanently hide the vertical ruler, click File Options Advanced, scroll down to the Display section, and clear the Show vertical ruler box. Tip: The ruler is not available in all views, such as Slide Sorter view. If the Ruler box is grayed out, try switching to Normal view.
Control the ruler with the keyboard Tap the Ruler. on the Draw tab to make it appear on the drawing surface of the slide. Click the Ruler with your mouse. Press Shift+F6 to enter ruler-manipulation mode. Use a keyboard shortcut to manipulate the Ruler: Action. Key strokes. Move the Ruler up, down, left, or right.
Select View Guides to show the horizontal and vertical center lines. Select View Gridlines to show more gridlines. Use the lines to align objects. Clear Gridlines and Guides to turn them off.
PowerPoint doesnt allowing for the mixing of landscape and portrait slides in the same presentation, but we describe a workaround below. You can put a portrait-oriented image or shape on a landscape slide. When projected on a screen, it will look the same on a landscape slide as it would on a portrait slide.
Add or remove guides To show or hide guides, select Guides on the View tab. To add a guide, Ctrl+click or right-click on your slide, point to Guides, and then select Add Vertical Guide or Add Horizontal Guide. To remove a guide, Ctrl+click or right-click the guide line, and then select Delete on the menu.
Choose View | Slide Master and you should be able to grab/remove those guides. Guides on the main slide master (the one at the very top) will appear on all of the layouts; and individual layouts can have their own sets of guides that only appear on slides based on that layout.
