You can prevent Mendeley adding author initials to your citation by ensuring all authors are added in the same format.
Uncheck the box that reads Include author initials or full name in citation. On the left-hand side again, under Citations, select Author Name. Uncheck the box that reads Use initials only for primary authors with the same name.
In Microsoft Word, go to the EndNote tab. In the Bibliography section on the tool bar, click on Convert Citations and Bibliography. Choose Convert to Plain Text.
Formatting Author information: Always list the authors surname before listing his or her initials. You only need to provide initials for the first and middle names, but do include initials for all middle names provided by the source. Include a comma after every last name and in-between different authors names.
For the Reference List: authors surname (family name) and initials. The family name must be written in full and initials used to represent given (first) names. You only need to provide initials for the first and middle names, but do include initials for all middle names provided by the source.
Use either the Edit Manage Citation(s) function from the EndNote toolbar in Word, or right click, and select Edit Citation(s). Go to More to get the full options. Change the Format to Exclude Author.
Open the EndNote Library and select the style for your manuscript. Select Output Style from Edit menu and select the style you want to edit. Select Journal Names from the left navigation. Select the journal name your prefer (e.g., Full journal name or abbreviation).
A: EndNote should include an editing option to suppress titles in citations but doesnt (as of EndNote X7). A workaround is to select show only in bibliography (which hides both the citations title and page number) then type-in the page number in parenthesis.
EndNote is correctly applying the APA style rule that: if two lead authors of different works have the same last name but different first and middle names or initials, their initials appear in the in-text citations to show that they are two different authors.
To do so, in EndNote go to Tools Output Styles Open Style Manager or Edit Output Styles Open Style Manager. Select the APA version you are using and click the Edit button. Then go to Ambiguous Citations under Citations and uncheck the Include author initials or full name in citation option.
