Base64 only contains A–Z , a–z , 0–9 , + , / and = . So the list of characters not to be used is: all possible characters minus the ones mentioned above. For special purposes . and _ are possible, too.
The base64 is a binary to a text encoding scheme that represents binary data in an ASCII string format. base64 is designed to carry data stored in binary format across the channels. It takes any form of data and transforms it into a long string of plain text.
Base-64 maps 3 bytes (8 x 3 = 24 bits) in 4 characters that span 6-bits (6 x 4 = 24 bits). The result looks something like "TWFuIGlzIGRpc3Rpb...".
Base64 encoded images help to reduce number of HTTP requests. Especially, it is extremely effective for small images. Embedding base64 encoded images in CSS files is much more simple than using sprites.
A Base64 string will end with == if and only if the number of bytes it encodes, mod 3, equals 1. Do you see the pattern? It happens that 16-byte (128-bit) encryption keys are very commonly encoded in Base64, and since 16 mod 3 = 1, their encoding will end with == .
The equals sign "=" represents a padding, usually seen at the end of a Base64 encoded sequence. The size in bytes is divisible by three (bits divisible by 24): All bits are encoded normally.
With padding, a base64 string always has a length that is a multiple of 4 (if it doesn't, the string has been corrupted for sure) and thus code can easily process that string in a loop that processes 4 characters at a time (always converting 4 input characters to three or less output bytes).
To decode an image from the Base64 Encoded string, perform the following steps. Open the Base64 to Image Converter. Enter a Base64 Encoded string. Select the Image type. ... After selecting the Image type, click on the "Generate Image" button. The tool decodes the Base64 Encoded string and displays the image.
Encoded size increase This means that the Base64 version of a string or file will be at least 133% the size of its source (a ~33% increase). The increase may be larger if the encoded data is small.
Convert Base64 to image online using a free decoding tool which allows you to decode Base64 as image and preview it directly in the browser....How to convert Base64 to image online Paste your string in the “Base64” field. Press the “Decode Base64 to Image” button. Click on the filename link to download the image.
