Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
Its pretty simple: Highlight the text that has a hanging indent. Right click your mouse. Select Paragraph from the resulting pop up menu. Under Indentation, use the Special pull-down menu to select (none) and your done!

What you have just experienced is the automatic indenting feature in Word. It simply means that Word assumes you want to indent the paragraph if you start it out by pressing the Tab key. So, it dutifully indents for you.
