An escape character is a single character that suppresses any special meaning of the character that follows it. For example, if you define a flat file record as having the following characteristics: Name = Record1. Delimited. Child delimiter = comma character (,)
You can import double quotation marks using CSV files and import maps by escaping the double quotation marks. To escape the double quotation marks, enclose them within another double quotation mark.
Comments are supported in Outline Load utility input CSV files. For single line comments, place the hash character as the first character on the line; for example, # comment. Blank lines are ignored.
By default, the escape character is a (double quote) for CSV-formatted files.
Open the CSV file with Wordpad or Notepad++ and delete any empty lines at the end. Ensure that the file is encoded in UTF-8 without BOM.To do this in Notepad++, follow these instructions: Select Encoding in the Notepad++ toolbar. Select Convert to UTF-8 without BOM. Save the file, and try to import it again.
Re: Handling comma in the data while writing to a CSV. So for data fields that contain a comma, you should just be able to wrap them in a double quote. Fields containing line breaks (CRLF), double quotes, and commas should be enclosed in double-quotes.
Currently, there isnt an escape character for a comma.
Special characters of comma (,) quotation mark, and new line character may cause issues with a CSV import. If you get an import error, open the CSV file in Excel and use the Find Replace tool to change or remove these specific special characters.
