hi guys and welcome back playing with the charts can be tricky sometimes for example you can see one chart on your screen which is all positive values and all good but the problem comes sometimes when you have some negative values in your charts so for example Ill add one negative value here and well see whats the impact whew it went down but the color is the same now what I want is that the color of this particular area or this particular series should be changed to red because its going down and negative is red but what happens if some other value goes down so oh no now this is again blue so this is not automated but it will be ideal if I have a situation where all the negative values can go red whenever it happens like this in the chart so this is this is quite possible let me show you how you can do that so I will first of all remove all the negative values here and and what Ill do is I will simply simply add one sample negative value that you can see here going down now when

Horizontal Bar Chart With Negative Values Great way to make it clear is to divide such bar chart into a two parts by Y-Axis. The positive data will be delivered like in regular horizontal bar chart from the axis to the right. The negative data, on the other hand, from the axis to the left side.
While column charts show information vertically, and bar graphs show data horizontally. While you can use both to display changes in data, column charts are best for negative data.
Flipping axis using the Format Axis dialog To do this, we have to right click the y axis that we want to reverse. Then, select the Format Axis from the context menu. The next thing to do is to check the Categories in reverse order. This is found in the Format Axis dialog, in the Axis Options.
First select your chart, then click on the Vertical Axis and press CTRL+1 to bring up the Format Axis dialog box. Then choose the Custom Category from the Number section. Then in the Format Code box, add a negative sign - and press the Add button.
Highlight the cells which you want to change. These should be in the same column. Choose Data- Text to Columns Choose Delimited Choose negative sign as separator. Select Do not import for the first column. The numbers will now be positive as the minus sign will be removed.
Graph negative numbers Edit your report. Select the chart. Select the STYLE panel. Locate the main axis settings: for default charts, this will be the left axis, but could also be right or bottom, depending on how youve customized your chart. Change the Axis min value to (auto) by deleting the current setting.
Negative numbers are to the left of the origin on the x-axis and below the origin on the y-axis. To graph with negative numbers, start at the origin and go to the left if the x-value is negative, and downward if the y-coordinate is negative. Points in quadrant I will always follow the format (+, +).
Bubble Chart does not show negative values.
