In Linux terminals, the code to format text may differ. On the one hand, we can use the SGR (Select Graphic Rendition) parameters of ANSI escape codes, a standard cross-language way of encoding color and format data. Otherwise, the tput command may have the same effects, but its use is limited.
There are two command-line text editors in Linux: vim and nano. You can use one of these two available options should you ever need to write a script, edit a configuration file, create a virtual host, or jot down a quick note for yourself.
The sed command: sed is a stream editor that enables non-interactive text manipulation. It allows you to modify, replace, or delete text patterns in files. It works by processing text line by line, applying a set of editing commands specified in a script or directly on the command line.
The default text editor in the Ubuntu operating system is Gedit. Gedit is a simple text editor that supports a number of programming languages, including C, C++, Java, HTML, and others. It is UTF-8 compliant and offers the majority of basic text editor capabilities.
For editing a file in Linux, we commonly used commands liike nano and vim. To edit a file using Nano, type nano filename in the terminal, make changes, press Ctrl + X to exit, and follow the prompts to save. For Vim, type vim filename, make changes, and use :wq to save and quit.
How to edit files in Linux Press the ESC key for normal mode. Press i Key for insert mode. Press :q! keys to exit from the editor without saving a file. Press :wq! Keys to save the updated file and exit from the editor. Press :w test. txt to save the file as test. txt.
