If youre working with Linux-based products, you may need to edit configuration files to make changes or updates to your system. Fortunately, you can modify configuration files directly on the Linux machine by using the command line.

usermod command or modify user is a command in Linux that is used to change the properties of a user in Linux through the command line. After creating a user we have to sometimes change their attributes like password or login directory etc. so in order to do that we use the Usermod command.
In the text editor, press computers i key to edit the file. Doing so will place a document in the Insert mode, wherein it is possible to enter text as needed. You should see -- INSERT -- popup notification at the bottom of the window after pressing the i key.
