You can make a field mandatory while creating or editing an entitys field under Admin Settings. Making a field required makes it mandatory for the user to enter a value while saving a record.
Informally, a required field is an input field on a form that must have a non-blank value to be valid. Conventionally, many flow action forms mark a required field with an orange asterisk ( ). The image itself is only a label to notify users that the field is required; it does not affect input editing or processing.
Mandatory Fields means each field in the Entry Form other than those marked as optional.
When a mandatory field is available in the form, it means user should fill that field without fail.
For example, Fields marked with * are mandatory or Please complete all fields marked with *. Example: In the registration on Renfe.com, the message Mandatory fields is displayed next to the registration as a legend to convey to users what the means.
If the field was set as mandatory as a result of header or item incompletion - you can change the customizing. If the field was set as mandatory via standard SAP logic - you can use MV45AFZ, USEREXITFIELDMODIFICATION. If the field was set as mandatory via custom logic - you change the custom logic.
