Write an equation or formula Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. Select the equation you need. See the ribbon for more Structures and Convert options.
You can use the Character Viewer to add special characters and symbols to text, such as maths symbols, Latin characters and pictographs. Click in the text where you want to place the character, then choose Edit Emoji Symbols (or press Control-Command-Space bar). The Character Viewer appears where you clicked.
Insert a formula Click the cell where you want the result to appear, then type the equal sign (=). Click a cell to use in your formula, or type a value (for example, a number such as 0 or 5.20). Type an arithmetic operator (for example, +, -, *, or /), then select another cell to use in your formula, or type a value.
Choose Insert Equation (from the Insert menu at the top of your screen). Enter an equation in the field using LaTeX commands or MathML elements. Click Insert. If you added a floating equation, drag the equation to reposition it on the sheet.
Inserting mathematical symbols Type text on a page. Press More Text Options and then select Insert Symbol . The Insert Symbols dialog box appears. Press a category. A list of symbols appears. Press the symbol you want to add to the text. Press Insert. The symbol appears in the text object.
Change an existing formula Double-click the result cell with the formula you want to edit. The formula editor opens, displaying the formula. Do any of the following: Change the cell references: Select the existing cell addresses you want to change, then select the new cells. Press Return or click.

Change an existing formula in Pages for iCloud Double-click the results cell with the formula you want to edit. The formula editor opens displaying the functions. Do any of the following: Press Return or click the Checkmark button in the formula editor when youre done.
