In a web browser, select a cell or cells, choose Data | Data Validation, then edit the text in the List Of Items field. Select Save to apply your changes. In the Google Sheets Android app, tap +Add, input text to add an item, and tap the checkmark to the right of the field when done (Figure B).
In the DataSheet go the column that will contain the data values and select all of the cells in the column, excluding the first row that contains the header. Go to the Data menu and select Data Validation. The Data validation rules pane displays. Click + Add rule.
Set rules for your form Open a form in Google Forms. Add one of the following types of questions: Short answer. Paragraph. Checkboxes. Click More . Click Response validation. Choose the type of rule you want. At the far right, type an error message that people will see when they enter an answer that breaks your rules.
You can also edit any data validation rules that youve created, or remove them altogether. Select the cell or cell range that contains the data validation. Click Data on the menu bar. Select Data Validation. Edit or remove the existing validation.
To set up data validation: Select the cell or range of cells where you want to apply validation. Go to the Data menu and choose Data validation. The Data Validation dialog box appears. Here, specify the criteria for validation: Provide instructions for input with an optional custom input message.
Setting up basic data validation Step 1: Open your desired Google Sheet and navigate to the cell or range where you want to apply your rules or parameters. Step 2: Click + Add rule in the sidebar. Step 3: Select your range of cells to apply your rule to.
How to edit or remove a dropdown list in Google Sheets Click the cell with the dropdown that needs to be updated. Click the Edit icon, which looks like a pencil. In the Data validation rules panel, make your changes to the dropdown list. To delete the dropdown entirely, click Remove rule. Click Done.
Use data validation to restrict the type of data or the values that users enter into a cell, like a dropdown list.
