To view information about a file or folder, right-click it and select Properties. You can also select the file and press Alt + Enter .
Click the File tab. Click Info to view the document properties. To add or change properties, hover your pointer over the property you want to update and enter the information. Note that for some metadata, such as Author, youll have to right-click on the property and choose Remove or Edit.
To view or change the attributes of a file, right-click the file, and then click Properties. In the Attributes: section, enabled attributes have checks beside them. Add or remove the checks from Read-only, Archive, or Hidden to enable or disable these options.
How to Open File or Folder Properties in Windows Press Win + E to launch File Explorer on your system. Click on a file or folder to select it. Then press Alt + Enter keys at once to open the file properties window.
Head to the File menu, then click File info. And you can also press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + I on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + I on Mac. From here, you can copy or edit the metadata. Click OK to save your changes.
To change a file extension in File Explorer, first go to View Show File name extensions. Then, right-click the file, select Properties, change the file extension, and press OK Yes. Use the ren Command Prompt command to change the file extension for several files at once.
