This video tutorial demonstrates how to change Microsoft Edge file download options. By default, files are automatically downloaded to the downloads folder without any control. The tutorial shows an example of downloading an FTP client, SCP. Users can choose to open the file or folder immediately after download. If users prefer more control over downloads, they can adjust the settings to manage where files are saved.

Set mandatory or recommended policies To configure a recommended policy, open the Group Policy Editor and go to (Computer Configuration or User Configuration) Policies Administrative Templates Microsoft Edge Default Settings (users can override).
On a target client device, open Microsoft Edge and navigate to edge://policy to see all policies that are applied. If you applied policy settings on the local computer, policies should appear immediately.
To solve this, delete the Edge Policies entirely in the Registry. Press the Windows+R keys on your keyboard, or right-click Start on the taskbar and select Run. Press Enter. Right-click the Edge folder currently selected and select the Delete option.
Open the group policy management editor and go to Administrative Templates Microsoft Edge Extensions, and then select Configure extension management settings. Enable the policy, then enter the permissions that you want allowed or blocked, compressing the permissions to a single JSON string.
Group Policy Editor: If you have Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise edition, you can use this. Press Windows + R and type gpedit. msc. Go to Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components Microsoft Edge and double-click Allow Microsoft Edge Side by Side browser experience. Select Disabled.
On Windows 10, select apps features, then select Microsoft Edge and click modify. For Windows 11, select installed apps, click the three dots beside Microsoft Edge and then click modify. Next, click yes, click repair and follow the on-screen instructions.
To do this, open Microsoft Edge and click on the three dots in the top right corner. Select Settings and then click on Reset settings. This will reset your browser settings to their default state and may remove any policies that were previously set.
Here are the steps to disable Microsoft Edge: Open the Start menu and type PowerShell in the search bar. Right-click on Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator. In the PowerShell window, type the following command and press Enter: Get-AppxPackage *MicrosoftEdge* | Remove-AppxPackage.
