So even though BIM means basically were creating model elements, we still have to use lines sometimes. So I wanted to create a video where I go over a couple of tools in revit that we have when it comes to creating lines. Whats the difference between these two tools and when to use each one of them, how to customize your lines, and also some tips and tricks to make you a bit more efficient when it comes to creating lines inside of Revit. To customize the information displayed in the view title, locate the view title family in the Project Browser. Right-click, and click Edit. The view title family opens in the Family Editor. Well customize the view title family by adding a label and selecting a view parameter to display in the view title.
Create a Title Block Click File tab New (Title Block). In the New Title Block dialog, select one of the predefined title block sizes, or select New Size. Add lines and text to the title block. To save the title block, click File tab (Save). Load the title block into a project.
Add dimensions and text notes, pan the viewport, or change the scale of a view to accommodate project needs. Open the sheet. In the drawing area, select a view on the sheet. Click Modify | Viewports tab Viewport panel (Activate View). Modify the view as desired.
Right-click in an empty (gray) area of the ribbon, and select Show Panel Titles.
Create a Viewport Type Open a sheet. Select a viewport or view title for a view on the sheet. On the Properties palette, click Edit Type. In the Type Properties dialog, click Duplicate. In the Name dialog, enter a name for the new viewport type, and click OK. Complete the parameters for the viewport type. Click OK.
How to set a view title Access the view properties. To do this select or open the view and make sure you have nothing else selected. In the properties window scroll down to the header Identity Data you will find the property Title on Sheet Fill in the property with the new title and click Apply.
Using the ribbon in a project. Open a Revit project. Click Insert tab Load from Library panel (Load Family). In the Load Family dialog, navigate to the location of the view title type file. Select the view title type file, and click Open.
Model lines are work plane-based elements that exist in 3D space and are visible in all views. They can be drawn straight or curved, either singly or in chains, or in the shape of a rectangle, circle, ellipse, or other polygon.
