(gentle piano music) - Today, I wanna talk to you about the best paper to use for your mixed media art projects. This comes up all the time, and I dont think people realize, no fault of their own, how important your substrate is, or your paper that youre working on, especially when youre doing mixed media work, because theres so much water involved, watery, liquidy, gluey, painty, right? Its a mess. So you cant have paper that cant withstand all that, cause were gonna (hands clap) be using all our things, right? And we wanna make sure that our paper can hold up. So what paper do you use? Well, you use watercolor paper. Thats all the paper you need, my friends. But there are three types of paper, and you will notice if you go to the store that paper can be super cheap or it can be stupid expensive. So I also wanted to talk about that as well, too, so that you know just what to do when youre headed to the store to grab some watercolor paper for your mixed media art project. S

Life of Colour mixed media paper is archival, acid-free and wood-free, making it perfect for creating art with acrylics andacrylic paint pens.

If you are mainly using your book for pencil sketches and the occasional pen, then standard sketchbook paper will work. If you are using markers, inks or some light watercolors, opt for a mixed media paper, says Markham. Sketch paper will not absorb wet media.
Types of Mixed Media Art The materials used in making a mixed media sculpture can be wood, wire, glass, metal, found objects, etc. A creative artist chooses a base material and then add additional materials like paint to the sculpture to make it interesting and create elements of pattern, shape or color.
