hi everybody this is Eugene on our connection computing at the national college of ireland and welcome to my series of short how-to videos in this video were going to learn how to create a basic filled map using tableau software so actually what I want to be able to do here is to take a simple Excel file listing in my case example here the countries of the European Union showing their GDP per country and represent those data in a colored and heat map if you like a filled map over here on the right hand side so lets go and see how we go and create a map like this using tableau so first of all lets take a look at our data in Excel so Ive got a very very simple excel file here its just got two columns one worksheet called GDP data and in column a listed by country about each of the countries of the European Union there are 28 and column B and Ive got a GDP value per country two things to watch out for here highlighted in yellow the first one is the value for Luxembourg of 258 its
