The text discusses the benefits of using PDF files as they are read-only by default, making them ideal for maintaining formatting. It also mentions that PDFs can still be edited with a dedicated editor, and flattening them into a single image can make it harder to edit but not impossible. The text provides a guide on how to create a read-only copy of an editable PDF by opening it in a browser, clicking on the print icon, selecting "save as PDF," and giving the file a name. Additionally, it mentions the option to encrypt the PDF with a password to lock editing on most PDF editors.
