Welcome back to another tips tricks video. To create numbered headings first define a new Multilevel List. Open the advanced settings, and link Level 1 to Heading 1. We will now replace the round bracket with a full stop. And change the text indentation to 1cm. Level 1 is ready. Now on to Level 2. Link Level 2 to Heading 2. And change the style to Numbers. Delete the round bracket, and place a full stop infront. Then include the number from Level 1. Align at 0cm and indent to 1cm. Use the preview window to check your formatting. Press OK to save the new Multilevel List. Use the styled Headings from the ribbon to apply the numbered formatting. If more Levels are required, create these at the time of defining the new Multilevel List. Thanks for watching!

On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List. Under List Library, choose the numbering style you would like to use in your document.
Define a new list style Select the text or numbered list you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Multilevel List. Specify a name for your new list style. Choose the number to start the list at. Choose a level in the list to apply your formatting.
If you need subsections numbered (for example, 2.1, 2.2, 2.12, etc.) as well, then choose the list the 1 Heading 1; 1.1 Heading 2, etc. option (right side, middle row). Note that doing this once sets the formatting for all heading levels.
The pages of your Abstract, Copyright, and Title Page should not be numbered. Since your Title Page is presumed to be the first page, but is not numbered, numbering should start with lowercase Roman numeral ii on the page that appears after your title page.
Use the Page field code to insert page numbers Double-click the header or the footer area (near the top or bottom of the page). Go to Header Footer Field. In the Field names list, Select Page, and then select OK. To change the numbering format, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers.
Add a heading Select the text you want to use as a heading. On the Home tab, move the pointer over different headings in the Styles gallery. Notice as you pause over each style, your text will change so you can see how it will look in your document. Click the heading style you want to use.
The page number should show on all pages. The title page carries page number 1.
Number your headings Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List. Under List Library, choose the numbering style you would like to use in your document.
You can number headings so that top-level headings (Heading 1) are numbered 1, 2, 3, for example, and second-level headings (Heading 2) are numbered 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List.
Click the Home tab, then click the Multilevel List icon. - This opens the List Library. 2. From the drop-down list, select: 1 Heading 1, 1.1 Heading 2, 1.1.
