Let me show you how that works. So Ive started to work on this great investment calculation tool, and I want to send it out to the different departments and different people. Ive put a great header here to fill in the blue fields only, but what do you think is going to happen? Will people stick to that, or will they just fill in the blue fields, or are they going to go and maybe type in stuff in other places as well? Well, some people are probably going to do that, right? And I want to avoid that. I want to make sure they cant type in anywhere else, only in the blue fields. Thats when protection comes into play. Step 9 To lock your form so that users can only fill out your form, click the Protection tab in the right side toolbar, then select Restrict Editing. Enter the same password in both fields, then click the OK button to save the password.

To avoid accidental changes to the form field, select Locked in the lower-left corner of the Properties dialog box before you close it.
It is not possible to protect just a part of a PDF document, you can only protect the whole document.
Click on the question you want to lock, and select Locked. If you have already set a default value for the question, a warning message appears. If you have mapped a Salesforce value in the Salesforce Workflow Launch Configuration settings for your workflow, it prevents your workflow from launching.
With the form fields added to the PDF, right click on the Signature field you are wanting to edit and choose Properties. Then from the Signed tab, choose to Mark as read-only and select the fields you want to lock after signing. Finally, Close.
