I dont want the labels to be on the inner part or the outer part of the bar, whatever height the bar is. I really want people to be able to read straight across and see all the different labels in the same spots. So the easiest way to accomplish this in Excel is actually to use a transparent set of data to use for labeling. So let me illustrate how you would do that. So right here Ill go ahead and put in something, like Ill call this label spots, or something. And Ill say that maybe the labels in every situation need to be at about the spot of 1,400, okay? Prevent a chart from moving and sizing with cells on the worksheet Click anywhere in the chart. Click the Format tab, in the Size group, click the Dialog Box Launcher . In the Format Chart Area dialog box, click the Properties tab. Under Object Positioning select the appropriate option.

On the Home tab, click the Format Cell Font popup launcher. In the Format Cells popup, in the Protection tab, uncheck the Locked box and then click OK.
