All private property ownership records in Ontario are registered with the government. Anyone can search for land records. You can search: land registration records online using the OnLand site.
Copies of recorded real property documents may be obtained online or by mail with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Documents are identified by the names of the listed grantors and/or grantees and the recording date. Fees for copies are $1 for the first page plus $1 for each additional page per document or map.
You can apply for copies of a title deed through the HM Land Registry website. It costs 3 to download a copy of the title register. It costs 7 for an official copy of each document that makes up the title deeds to a property.
This is usually the solicitor or conveyancer acting on behalf of the buyer. So, if youre trying to track down your original deeds, they could be with the solicitor who acted for you when you bought the property, or possibly with your mortgage company if you have a mortgage.
