The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program that helps many low income households pay for broadband service and internet connected devices. The Affordable Connectivity Program is administered by USAC with oversight from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Congress mandated the creation of the ACP as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which became law in November 2021. The program was designed as a permanent extension of the EBB, with a handful of changes.
An ACP consumer can only use their one-time device benefit on a device offered by the same provider through which that consumer receives ACP-discounted internet service.
The bipartisan infrastructure bill has renamed the Affordable Connectivity Program and will allow the program to continue indefinitely.
The Bureau provided interim guidance (DA 21-1524) that to enable the orderly transition of the EBB Program to the Affordable Connectivity Program, the Bureau and USAC stopped accepting EBB Program provider participation applications and election notices on December 20, 2021.
How long will the Affordable Connectivity Program last? The ACP is a long-term program. The government has committed $14 billion to this endeavor, and there is currently no end date.

The Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) is a $3.225 billion investment by the Government of Canada designed to help connect 98 per cent of Canadians to reliable high-speed Internet by 2026 and 100 per cent of Canadians by 2030. The government has partnered with several provinces to ensure that UBF dollars go even further.
Most eligible families can receive a benefit of up to $30 per month applied to the cost of their internet service. ACP-eligible households who live on Tribal lands are eligible for a benefit of up to $75 per month.
