Todays question comes from India. Nayanseth wants to know, I have a blog and I post original articles, but I also like to link to the original website. So I link the website in a word in the first paragraph. Is this the right way, or should I give a link separately at the bottom? Great question. So Im assuming youre a white hat blogger, youre writing original content, youre linking to white hat stuff. So were going to answer it like everybodys well-behaved, not like youre spamming or RSS auto-blogging or anything like that. The answer is, either way can work. So whatever way you choose to do will work fine for Googles ranking because the link, whether its at the bottom of the article, or whether its in that first paragraph, it still flows page rank either way. And so credit will flow to the website that youre referring to. Ill just say, for my personal preference, I really appreciate when there is a link somewhere relatively close to the top of the article because I rea

The in-text citation should occur in the sentence where the cited material has been used: Signal phrase reference (authors name) appears within the sentence with page number in parentheses at the end of the sentence. Full parenthetical reference (author last name and page number) appears at the end of the sentence.
A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a string of numbers, letters and symbols used to permanently identify an article or document and link to it on the web. A DOI will help your reader easily locate a document from your citation.
A number is allocated to a source in the order in which it is cited in the text. If the source is referred to again, the same number is used. Use Arabic numerals (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). Either square [ ] or curved brackets ( ) can be used as long as it is consistent.
If the paragraphs are numbered, you may also cite the relevant paragraph number preceded by the abbreviation par., e.g. (Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, par. 4). If the authors name precedes the paragraph number in the citation, follow the name with a comma. Do not include unnumbered paragraphs.
Include information in the following order: author (the person or organisation responsible for the site) year (date created or last updated) page title (in italics) name of sponsor of site (if available) accessed day month year (the day you viewed the site) URL or Internet address (pointed brackets).
Per APA 7, Section 6.32, use numerals to express numbers 10 or above (e.g., 11, 23, 256). Per Section 6.33, write out numbers as words to express numbers up to nine (e.g., three, seven, eight).
You can usually find the issue number and volume on the front cover of a physical journal, or towards the top of a PDF of an online journal article. Some journals have strange-looking page numbers such as e240-249. Include these in your reference as the journal gives them.
Number your citations Arrange the sources you cite alphabetically and then number them; or. Number the citations consecutively ing to the first mention of each source in the text (using the same number for subsequent references to the same source).
