The Rich Text Format (RTF) specification is a method of encoding formatted text and graphics for easy transfer between applications. Currently, users depend on special translation software to move word-processing documents between different MS-DOS, Windows, OS/2, Macintosh, and Power Macintosh applications.
RTF supports inclusion of JPEG, PNG, Enhanced Metafile (EMF), Windows Metafile (WMF), Apple PICT, Windows device-dependent bitmap, Windows device-independent bitmap and OS/2 Metafile picture types in hexadecimal (the default) or binary format in a RTF file.
To make a hyperlink in an HTML page, use the and tags, which are the tags used to define the links. The tag indicates where the hyperlink starts and the tag indicates where it ends. Whatever text gets added inside these tags, will work as a hyperlink.
Most likely problems with opening hyperlinks are connected with either the security restrictions of your Internet browser that doesnt allow opening pop-up windows, or with your Flash player plug-in that prevents you from opening URLs in local Flash files.
To add a link in the RTF field. Click the RTF icon next to the character field to open the RTF Editor. Select the text to add a link to the bookmark. If you do not select the text, the HTML Link option will not be enabled to perform Step 3.
A plain text file, such as a file with a . txt extension, can only have plain, unformatted text and no images inserted into it. If you are working with a plain text file, it needs to be converted into a file format that supports RTF (rich text format) before images can be added.
