welcome to Excel campus my name is John and in this video Im going to explain how to use the snap to shape feature to line up the shapes on your dashboards so here we have a dashboard that has a lot of different shapes on it we have these shapes here with text boxes images we also have charts slicers and these are all considered shapes in Excel and one thing we typically spend a lot of time with with dashboards is then lining up all of these shapes after weve added them to the dashboard so in a previous video I explained how to use some of the alignment commands on multiple shapes to line them up so if we wanted to align both of these charts our shapes to the top we could hold down the control key and select both of those then go to the format tab on the ribbon and under the align drop down here we have all these different align options for how wed want to Loveline these two shapes so wed click align top and that would align both of those to the top now if we have a lot of shapes

Insert a text box on a chart Click the chart to which you want to add a text box. On the Format tab, click Insert Shapes, and then click the Text Box icon . In the chart, click where you want to start a corner of the text box, and then drag until the text box is the size that you want.

Hold down Shift , click the objects that you want to align, and then click the Shape Format tab. Click Arrange Align, and select an alignment option. If you displayed the gridlines, you will see that the objects are aligned on the grid.
