Today I am doing something I used to do a lot, but havent in a long time, and that is to create bookmark cards. Cards that incorporate bookmarks that the recipient can remove is a great way to make the card more special, and they can keep it and use it, and make it a little more functional. So I have four different ideas for incorporating bookmarks onto your cards. These are all a little bit different and very easy to do, so Im hoping that youll give one a try. And you can use this with any products you may have. Lets start with my favorite type of bookmark to make and that is a corner bookmark. You can incorporate on your card, it just slides right out, and the recipient slides it on the corner of their page to keep their place. Now, I have a few cards showing this. A bookmark identifies a specific word, section, or place in your document so you can easily find it again without scrolling through the document. For example, you might create a bookmark to identify text that you want to revise later. And a cross-reference refers to a specific place in your document.
Word makes this easy by following these steps: Display the Word Options dialog box. Click Advanced at the left side of the dialog box. Scroll down until you see the Show Document Content section. Make sure the Show Bookmarks check box is selected. Click on OK.
Add a Bookmark Check the Insert tab. Expand the Links group, if necessary. Click the Bookmark button. The Bookmark dialog box opens.
While hidden in the rich content field, a bookmark is visible as a tooltip in the text and when performing bookmarking and cross-referencing operations. A cross-reference is a hyperlink to a bookmark in a document and is stored as a URL in an items rich content field.
Create a cross-reference: Click the Insert tab, then Cross-reference. - Reference type: Select the type of item you want to refer to. - Insert reference to: Select the information you want to appear in your document. - For which item: Select the exact item you want to refer to.
From the menu, choose Insert Reference Cross Reference. From the Reference type drop-down, choose Bookmark. Select the name of the bookmark you created. Hit Insert.
To show bookmark annotations in your document, select Links Bookmarks, and then select the Show on document checkbox. To delete a bookmark, after choosing to show bookmark annotations in your document, simply click the bookmark and click Remove button that appears.
Create a cross-reference: Click the Insert tab, then Cross-reference. - Reference type: Select the type of item you want to refer to. - Insert reference to: Select the information you want to appear in your document. - For which item: Select the exact item you want to refer to.
How it works To insert a bookmark, select any word or text string, picture, or item in your document you want to be able to refer to later, and then select Insert Link Bookmarks New Bookmark. To show bookmark annotations in your document, select Links Bookmarks, and then select the Show on document checkbox.
Check the Navigation Pane option in the Show group (OR press Ctrl+F). The Navigation pane opens on the left. Click Headings to display the headings hierarchically. The headings should be nested in a logical manner.
