although it is impossible to actually increase the size of the resolution of an image after you have taken the picture we can fake it right in Photoshop now theres a new technology in Photoshop to fake it better and let me show you how that works so first of all update your Photoshop to the latest version if youre a Creative Cloud member this feature is only available in docHub Photoshop CC and not in previous versions like cs6 so if youre a CC member just update your Photoshop then what you need to do lets have a look at this image first lets have a look this is what five hundred by three three three pixels very small image its not pretty much usable but in case you have to use it and you have to enlarge it heres how you usually do it right you go to image and then image size you kind of increase it for example lets increase it to four thousand lets have a look at the preview this just doesnt look right this looks fake right even if you try to change to like bicubic smoother

Anything 300 PPI or over is usually considered to be high resolution. DPI Dots Per Inch, is a measurement to determine the resolution of an image for printing.
Print resolution is measured in dots per inch (or DPI) which means the number of dots of ink per inch that a printer deposits on a piece of paper. So, 300 DPI means that a printer will output 300 tiny dots of ink to fill every inch of the print. 300 DPI is the standard print resolution for high resolution output.
The standard resolution for web images is 72 PPI (often called screen resolution). At that size, the pixels you see on the screen are all the pixels there are; an image thats 4 long at 72 PPI will take up about 4 of your monitor.
Hi-res images are at least 300 pixels per inch (ppi). This resolution makes for good print quality, and is pretty much a requirement for anything that you want hard copies of, especially to represent your brand or other important printed materials.
Low Resolution Images Images used on the internet are typically 72 dpi. This is a suitable resolution for websites since it enables a small file size and does not look visibly pixelated on most computer screens. However, images at 72 dpi will ALWAYS look pixelated and low-resolution when printed.
In general, your images should have a resolution of 150 to 200 dpi for newspaper print. Always check your camera settings before you shoot and select the highest resolution and largest file your camera has. Digital cameras generally create images with a resolution of 72.
png) should be larger than 1000px wide 1000px tall. We recommend map images to be smaller than 2000px wide 2000px tall to reduce file size. A smaller guide will take less time for users to download, and it will update faster when attendees use your guide throughout your event.
Jpg files are designed for the internet, and therefore saved at lower resolutions, usually 72 ppi. Many lower-priced digital cameras automatically save photos as jpgs, using low resolution but large images. JPG files are smaller. High-end equipment may use the RAW format, which allows photographers more control.
Recommended minimum resolution for printing is 300 dpi; computer monitors generally have a display setting of 72 dpi. If we indicate that some of your images have low resolution, they may not look bad on your monitor but will likely print blurry or jagged.
Ideal screen image resolution (detail an image holds) is 72 pixels per inch. If an image is less than 72ppi, it will appear fuzzy (what we call pixelated).
