okay so first of all this is the document that I have been working on in the previous videos and in this video Im going to show how to make table captions and a list of tables in word so the first thing Im going to do is scroll down to the bottom because thats where Ive put all of my tables and at the moment all of my table captions are just plain text so the first thing Im going to do is select in here and then go to references and insert caption and then Im going to change the label option from figure to table then Im going to select okay then Im going to delete the second table one and then Im going to go to home and styles and Im going to select caption and right click and modify and then Im going to change the formatting so Im going to change it to black Im going to remove the italics Im going to make it a size 10 and Im gonna make it Times New Roman Im also going to change the formatting here and Im going to make the spacing smaller then Im going to select ok a

A caption functions like a heading for a table. Most screen readers announce the content of captions. Captions help users to find a table and understand what its about and decide if they want to read it. If the user uses Tables Mode, captions are the primary mechanism to identify tables.
Captions for tables are placed above the table (typically left aligned), and captions for figures are placed below the figure. NOTE: Titles for figures and graphs can be used for oral presentations and posters.
Tips Start by saying what information is shown. In the second paragraph give an overview of the most important features of the information. Be selective and choose the key observations and trends. Divide your observations into paragraphs about different aspects of the data.
Add captions Select the object (table, equation, figure, or another object) that you want to add a caption to. On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption. In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a figure or equation.
Title: Tables are headed by a number followed by a clear, descriptive title or caption. Conventions regarding title length and content vary by discipline. In the hard sciences, a lengthy explanation of table contents may be acceptable.
The caption should explain any abbreviations and symbols and cite the source of the table. At the end of the caption, include a copyright statement. The caption should be situated below the table, beginning with Note.
Set off the word Table or Figure and the number that follows in bold but keep the rest in normal font (neither bold nor italics). No punctuation is required between the number and the title: space alone is enough.
Captions should contain a number, title, and any other appropriate explanatory information, including citations if the data was taken from another source. Captions convey information to the reader about the story being told with the figure or table.
