Add individual merge fields Click or tap where you want the merge field. Choose the down-arrow under Insert Merge Field, and select a field. If you dont see your field name in the list, choose Insert Merge Field. Choose Database Fields to see the list of fields that are in your data source. Choose Insert.
Inserting a new merge field Open the document you want to edit and go to the Insert tab. Open the Quick Parts menu and select Field. The Field dialog window will open. In the field dialog menu, choose Merge field from the list on the left side.
MergeField is a Field element containing a reference to a data field by its name. When a template document is mail merged with the values from a data source, the data field information replaces the merge field. More information on the mail merge feature is available in the respective article: Mail Merge.
You can insert one or more mail merge fields that pull the information from your spreadsheet into your document. Go to Mailings Insert Merge Field. Add the field you want. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as needed. Choose File Save.
Click File on the ribbon bar, then click Save As. Enter a default name for the template document in the File Name field. Click the Save As type drop-down list, and then select Word Template (*. DOTX) as the file type. Enable the Save Thumbnail option, then click the Save button.
On the MAILINGS tab, click Start Mail Merge and Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard. Select the type of document you want to add mail merge to, and click Next. Here you can start a new document from a template or existing document.
Open MS Word and choose a new document or an existing document that you would like to use as a Mail Merge template. Click the Insert tab from the Menu bar and choose Field from the Quick Parts list. Choose Mail Merge from the Categories list. Select MergeField from the Field names list.
