this micro tip will show you how to merge shapes in powerpoint first in powerpoint go to the home tab and go over to drawing and click on the little oval hold down the shift key and draw so you get a perfect circle now go back to the home tab and draw and click on the rectangle hold down the shift key and youll drag and get a perfect square and im just going to move that square right on top of the circle now select both shapes like this go to the shape format tab and youll see this merge shapes drop this down now union if i choose that youll see it merges them together combine will combine and overlay the part that doesnt match fragment will actually chop it up into pieces im going to come back to that in just a second intersect will show the intersection of just that one piece and then subtract is kind of the opposite where it just shows the part you subtract the square out of the circles now back to fragment now fragment is kind of fun because now actually it sliced everything

Lines can be Merged with Shapes and other Lines with except that straight Lines cannot be Merged. The results of Fragment have been colored for clarity. Note that the Lines have been changed to Shapes by adding a line segment to close the Shape.
