​​To get a North Carolina learner permit, an individual must be at least 18 years old and apply in person at an N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles driver license office. (Individuals at least 18 years old may also apply for a driver license.)
An alteration permit is required for all commercial bathrooms. A permit is not required for residential bathrooms but plumbing and electrical permits are always required.
Single family and condominiums: $95.50. Duplex (2 units in building): $95.50 per unit. Apartments (3 or more units in one building): $75.00 per unit. There is a $20 administrative fee for cancelled applications.
