all right so lets say we have y plus 7 is equal to 12 okay so how do we solve this guy the goal is we want to get Y by himself we have this 7 next to him plus 7 and that is a problem so we want to get rid of this guy the way we do it is by doing the opposite were going to subtract 7 from the left and because it we do it to the left we must also do it to the right if we didnt do it to the right and we only did it to the left then weve screwed up and we havent done anything valid but long as we subtract 7 here we couldnt subtract 7 over here and by the way why are we subtracting 7 because 7 minus 7 is 0 so we basically are trying to get Y all by himself so on the Left all we have is Y and on the right we have 12 minus 7 which is 5 and that is the final answer so Y is equal to 5 now if youre curious if this is correct you can always check in an algebra you can take the 5 stick it in here because Y is equal to 5 5 plus 7 is equal to 12 so it checks out everything is correct all rig

Answer: An equation refers to a mathematical sentence that has two equal sides separated by an equal sign. A simple example of mathematical equation is 7 + 12 = 19. Moreover, if the 15 is the coefficient in the equation 15n = 75. In this, the unknown number is the variable.
How to Find the Equation of a Line from Two Points Find the slope using the slope formula. Use the slope and one of the points to solve for the y-intercept (b). Once you know the value for m and the value for b, you can plug these into the slope-intercept form of a line (y = mx + b) to get the equation for the line.
Definition. The equation of a straight line is y=mx+c y = m x + c m is the gradient and c is the height at which the line crosses the y -axis, also known as the y -intercept.

The standard form for linear equations in two variables is Ax+By=C. For example, 2x+3y=5 is a linear equation in standard form. When an equation is given in this form, its pretty easy to find both intercepts (x and y). This form is also very useful when solving systems of two linear equations.
The general equation of a straight line is y = mx + c, where m is the gradient, and y = c is the value where the line cuts the y-axis. This number c is called the intercept on the y-axis. The equation of a straight line with gradient m and intercept c on the y-axis is y = mx + c.
Linear Equations Represent Lines To make a line you need two points. Then you can draw a line through those two points. The x and y variables in the linear equation represent the x and y coordinates on a graph. If you plug in a number for x, you can calculate the corresponding number for y.
